Now is the time when the air gets crisp, the leaves change color and we turn our attention to indoor activities. But not so fast, this is the best time to plan out your next adventure to see the wonders of natures fall colors. I have always wanted to take a cruise this time of year to see New England and Canada and the amazing fall show put on by Mother Nature. The problem is I never seem to think about it in time to make reservations. Next year it will be different, I promise myself that next year I will remember to make those reservations and take the cruise that will amaze me and fill the memory card of my camera with the kaleidoscope of colors. The best time to see the foliage change in New England is from the middle of September to the middle of October with Columbus day being the peak. All of the major cruise lines have similar itineraries anywhere from 6 nights to 20 nights so if you have a favorite cruise line, chances are they have the perfect itinerary for you. I have selected a middle of the road 7 day itinerary below aboard the Norwegian Breakaway starting and ending in New York as the one I would like to take and starting at only $749 per person it is very affordable.

Taking a cruise isn’t the only way and maybe not even the best way for you to see the fall colors but I sure enjoy touring new places aboard a cruise ship. Another great way to see the colors is by car. On a road trip you can take beautiful pictures like the ones I have added here from inside Rocky Mountain National Park. Drive to Estes park and stay at the famous Stanley Hotel where Steven King had the inspiration for the shinning. The hotel is in pristine shape and the ghost tour is a must do. From the Stanley Hotel it is a short drive to the entrance of the park where you can see some postcard perfect views from almost any road in any direction. If you like to hike this is the place for you with over 300 miles of hiking trails located withing the 415 square miles of the park, there is a trail for everyone.
When you are tired out from all that hiking be sure to check out the quaint town of Estes Park. A great way to relax is watching a movie at the historic Park Theatre. The theater boast being the oldest operating single house movie theater in the United States. Built in 1913, they are celebrating their 106th season this year. They show first run movies on their updated screen with full Dolby digital sound. If you are looking for some amazing Italian food in Estes Park check out Sweet Basilico for mouth watering pizza and pasta.

These are just two of my ideas to enjoy the full fall season. The best way to enjoy the season is to get out and be among the colors because no matter where you live there is an adventure a short drive away. If you have other places you enjoy traveling to for fall comment below or shoot me a quick email. My favorite thing to do is talk about travel.
